On June 6, 2024, Shanghai Huaming Power Equipment Co., Ltd. successfully held a technical seminar on on-load tap changers for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. The aim of the seminar was to familiarize TCN with Huaming's tap changer products, which received high recognition.
At the seminar, Huaming provided a detailed introduction covering company's development history, working principles of tap changers, maintenance standards, and examples of on-site retrofit cases. The audience showed great interest and actively asked questions about points and concerns they encounter in daily work.
As an essential part of Nigeria's power system, TCN's transmission network covers 330kV and 132kV voltage levels, with over one thousand substations and more than 20,000 kilometers of transmission lines. Over the past three years, Huaming has supplied TCN with dozens of vacuum type on-load tap changers, including more than ten sets for 330kV projects. Huaming's exceptional quality has earned the trust and praise from customers.
Have to say that Huaming has really long-standing cooperation with Nigeria's power industry. As early as 2005, Huaming's tap changer products began to be exported to Nigeria, and in 2007, HM successfully obtained the certification from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). Till now, Huaming has already had several hundred units of tap changers in the Nigerian market.
At the start of the seminar, TCN Executive Director Engr. O. E. A Ajiboye delivered an enthusiastic welcome speech: "As TCN, we warmly welcome Huaming's arrival. Huaming has brought more high-quality and diversified options to our Nigeria power grid, which will undoubtedly foster healthier competition."

And in the separate interview after the event, Engr. Ajiboye expressed his pleasure that Huaming has participated in several lots of TCN's World Bank project supplies, praised the reliability of Huaming's products, and looked forward to more Huaming products being used in the TCN network in the future. Huaming also promised to continue providing high-quality tap changers and services to TCN and the entire Nigerian market.
Huaming has already arranged dedicated service personnel in Nigeria to support customers' needs at any time. The subsequent service team will be further strengthened, and spare parts will be stored locally to provide timely support. Both parties also agreed to conduct long-term, batch-by-batch training for TCN technical personnel on the operation and maintenance of tap changers to enhance the professional skills and operational capabilities of the relevant personnel, ensuring the stable operation and efficient maintenance of the Nigerian power grid.
